Photographed by Hawke's Bay Wedding Photographer Michael

As a Hawke's Bay Wedding Photographer late season weddings can bring patchy weather at times. However, this was a lovely Hawke's Bay late season wedding - @adventureswithsarandfinny ’s wedding. We struck gold, meaning golden light, all day. In winter the sun arcs lower throughout the whole day. This lower arc causes more filtering through atmospheric dust and vapour, makes your light warmer, more directional (as opposed to right above you, where no matter where you turn the light is almost the same if in direct sunlight) which means you get light you can work with to give different lighting looks and has a glowy, soft, creamy, lush, flattering character. This is why this scene at the River Room looks soft, warm, ethereal and dreamy. It’s the light you dream of getting for a wedding you’re photographing. And with the ups and downs of the weather this past season, I felt very lucky and privileged indeed. Enjoy x
