“Anyone who falls in love is searching for the missing pieces of themselves. So anyone who's in love gets sad when they think of their lover. It's like stepping back inside a room you have fond memories of, one you haven't seen in a long time.”

I hope we get to meet, if we haven't already x

I’m Michael, a Hawke’s Bay Wedding Photographer and Videographer. My work takes me all over the Bay and New Zealand and I love photographing people and their connection to each partners, their families, their friends, and to places. I was born in Australia but have lived in New Zealand most of my life. I grew up in South Auckland before moving to Napier, Hawke's Bay in 2014 to be a full time photographer.

I love wedding photography and have a particular interest in developing my wedding videography and weddings are mainly what I do. I also do portraits, engagement sessions, couple sessions, family sessions and maternity sessions.

If you've followed my on socials at all, you may have picked up big hearted, relaxed, fun, joke telling, quip making, artistic photographer and videographer vibe. If My social links are sprinkled on here of course. On my shoots I strive to create an environment of relaxation, trust, ease and spontaneity so that people can express themselves and express their intimacy with each other. I’ve found this approach, plus my experience working with people from all walks of life, helps even people who aren’t normally comfortable in front of a camera to relax and be their natural selves. I've been told this comes across in my work.

My wedding photography could be described as modern, film influenced, romantic, with an intimate, spontaneous, natural eye. Just recently I have changed up my style to keep things interesting. I'm talking cleaner, lighter, truer colour neutral edits, direct flash, shutter dragging, dutch tilts, and artistic blur here and there. However it is just building on my foundations of many years of being a photographer. My wedding videography? I'll get back to you on how I describe that - it's a work in progress. However my approach to that is going to be similar to my photography. It's just a different medium.

Diversity statement

It shouldn’t have to be said, but here it goes: I am happy to work with all races, religions, sexual orientations, genders, and nationalities. If you look at my work you can see that I celebrate and welcome diversity. If you book me, and there is something that I need to know or understand to show respect for you or your family and friends, please just let me know.

AI STATEMENT

Call me old fashioned, call me out of touch, call me behind the times, but for ethical reasons I am editing my images myself - I do not outsource to editors or use AI editing software. All editing of photos are by me. All wedding films going forward are being edited by me. Never by AI.
